Nonprofit Board Chair Training and Counsel Services

An effective Board Chair is a critical partner in determining the success – and sustainability – of a non-profit organization. In order to achieve its mission, a non-profit organization must have a high-performing governing Board in place.   A strong Board Chair can make a significant difference in the capacity of the Board and the charitable organization it governs.

Unfortunately, many volunteers serving as Board Chair are not able to realize their full potential in that leadership role because they don’t possess a complete grasp of precisely what that role entails. In many cases, volunteers step into that critical leadership role reluctantly and often, with no prior experience or training as a Board Chair. Most Board development/training programs focus on the functioning of the Board as a whole, but not specifically on the role of the Chair.

The Nonprofit Board Chair Training and Counsel Service offers just the type and amount of support these essential volunteer leaders need in order to succeed and to leave behind the kind of lasting legacy they may have envisioned when agreeing to serve in this pivotal role. One of our new Associates, Teri Bordenave, launched this service in 2010 following more than 20 years of leading, governing and consulting with not-for-profit organizations.
